Welcome to The Lamb Inn
The Lamb Inn was first established in 1673 as a coaching inn on what was then Marsh Street. For some unknown reason the Lamb Inn closed in 1781 and reopened in 1833 and has welcomed guests ever since. Evidence of the Lamb Inn's coaching history may be found at the back of the courtyard where the origonal stable and coach houses can be found (the stable has recently been sympathetically converted in to a dinning room) and in the framed deeds hanging on the bar wall. Above the coach houses and stable was the accommodation for the "Ostlers", with it's own ghost. We have converted these to three en suite letting rooms. In the main building we have three other en suite letting rooms. Information on the six letting rooms can be found on the "Stay" page.
The Lamb Inn is a family run pub with Vyv taking over in May 1980. He met Jackie in 1993 and were married in 1994. They were joined by their daughter Laura in 2001 and with other hard working members of staff make a great team.
The Lamb Inn functions as a traditional pub, with Wadworths 6X being served straight from wooden barrels, along with other lagers, ciders and good selection of fine wines.Jackie and Laura can be found in the kitchen, and over the years have built up an excellant reputation for the quality and origonality of their home cooked food. Much of the food is sourced locally and Jackie is also conscious of ethically produced meat which comes from Jesse Smiths butchers just round the corner. As was mentioned earlier the stable has recently been converted into a dinning room.
Here at the Lamb Inn we aim to provide you with comfortable clean accommodation, a refreshing drink and a delicious meal. We hope that you will agree.
